IOT Introduction

The Independent Oil Terminal (IOT) at Senari formed an integral part of the Assar Senari Industrial Complex (ASIC) and replaced the old petroleum storage facility in Bintawa, Kuching, with one that is more modern and capable of handling larger capacities for fuel and LPG.

The IOT is a strategic project as part of Kuching city's development master plan and operate in accordance with international standards for quality, safety and environmental performance.

It is a centralized or common user facility designed to handle the storage and distribution of bulk petroleum and its related products within the southern region of Sarawak.

The IOT is fully-owned by ASSAR Chemicals Sdn Bhd, and is managed fully by IOT Management Sdn Bhd, a joint venture company between PETRONAS, Shell and ASSAR Senari Group.

HSE

Health & Safety IOTM approach to HSE Management is developed in line with industry best practices and stakeholder's business requirement. IOTM HSE Management System based on a quality model approach and structured around nine basic principles, namely organization, policy, procedures, supervision, management review and appraisal.

Environmental Management For an appropriate Environmental Management structure, Its was propose to establish policies and action plans on key environmental issues, identify, set and achieve measurable environmental performance indicators and ensure relevant training is available

Objectives of IOTM's HSE Management System The objective of IOTM Health, Safety and Environment Management System is to manage hazards and effects to health, safety and the environment in a structured way. The management of hazards involves a systematic process of risk identification, assessment, control and recovery. The HSE Management System also sets performance standards for managing health, safety and environment, which will be assessed and continually improved by a programme of performance monitoring, audit and review.
